Wellesley also has an abundant supply of Lake Whitefish that can get as big as 15 pounds. Although not always targeted they provide a great deal of action for fly fishermen.
Whitefish are typically found under birds working a major hatch or you will see them porpoising on the surface in open water. The shoals and other rocky shallow structure around the lake are also good areas to find these fish.
You can beach your boat and walk and wade for these fish but the preferred method is to look for sign and chase them in your boat. Whitefish are only available in the spring months and they fight hard enough to be called the Bonefish of Wellesley Lake.
