Kluane Wilderness Lodge has the best Lake Trout fishing found anywhere in the world. There's no better place to be if you are after a trophy Laker.
Whether throwing flies at cruising Trout on the shoals, pulling the fly gear in the shallows, jigging or trolling tube jigs on the deep flats...the volume and quality of the Lakers on Wellesley is unmatched.
During June and early July the shoals and shallow water will hold Trout from 10 to 25 pounds and can be caught fly casting, trolling flies, casting spoons and plugs. It's a fisherman's paradise and will give your gear a real test. Seven to eight weight fly rods are recommended.
Although big fish are caught throughout the season it seems that the really big trophies come from the deeper water from late July through the beginning of September.
A 2 oz. lead head and tube jig in white or green seem to be the favorites for jigging and tolling.
However, don't forget the spoons and streamer flys for trolling as well. As you can see, they get their fare share of trophies.
At Kluane Wilderness Lodge it's not if you'll catch the Trout of your lifetime but when. One thing is certain...if you don't come you won't get your trophy fish!
