Hi everyone.

Hope all is well, and you are getting ready for the festive season. Yes, it is that time of the year again, I find that as I get older these special occasions seem to come along a lot faster. At least once we are past Christmas the days will have already started to get longer. I’m always checking the weather at the lodge, and it looks like this coming week will be the coldest so far this year with temperatures into the minus 40’s. Your turn to put wood in the stove. It would be cold to be there now but I’m sure that the northern lights would be incredible. One of these years I would like to spend a winter there, after flying in there early in 2020 what’s another couple of months, just a lot more firewood to cut.

Silence is golden

No one else for miles

For myself, it was out to Calgary to see the girls and grandkids when I got home, and do some hunting. The rest of the winter I have been busy trapping again. It is a great way to spend the winter with all the great sights and there is always something happening every day. Not a lot of snow in the west this year so far and the lakes and rivers are the lowest that they have been in years. Hopefully, we will get more snow in the new year and not too cold.

Hey, you’re in my neighborhood.

Like many of you who have been to the lodge a few times in the past, I find myself always thinking about next year and another great summer in the north and all of the funny things that have happened in the past. All of the friendships that have been made and the new ones to come. I have noticed that there are more Dad’s bringing their sons and numerous times we have had 3 generations. What great memories that will last a lifetime for everyone.

And then there’s the guys that are bringing their wives () which I think is great. But guys, why is it that they seem to out fish you most of the time? They are starting to make us look bad. It must be tough for some of you when you get home and everyone is asking how was your fishing trip (). But then fishermen never lie….

They don’t get any prettier than that for a Lake Trout.

Ok, so the girls get another big one ()

With all of the travel restrictions being dropped I will be doing some sportsman shows again this spring starting in Denver Colorado January 12th – 15th , Sacramento California January 19th – 22nd , Puyallup Washington February 1rst – 5th, Portland Oregon February 15th – 19th and Orange County Fairgrounds in California March 2nd – 5th. I’m also looking at doing a show in BC and will let you know later if I’m going to do it. If you are around when any of these shows are in your area, it would be great to see you again.

Bookings have been going great with everyone looking to travel after being cooped up for the last couple of years, but many are still cautious as to where they go, how many people will be there when they get there.

If you are looking for that last minute gift, we can make it happen and I’m sure that it will light up someone’s eyes for Christmas.

This should warm you up for next year, see you soon.

To all of you, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
